During this hands-on workshop you’ll learn the skills to create a mould and cast your very own human head. Initially you’ll study the human form and mould making techniques. To follow, you’ll create a life-sized human head sculpture modelled in clay. To top off a fascinating few days, you’ll use your creations to produce a high quality and beautifully textured cement head sculpture.
Day one: Sculpting - A study of the human head in clay. Students will bring their own sculpting tools to create a life sized head and shoulder bust modelled in clay.
Day two: Mould making - Students will learn about diffenent mould making techniques and materials, then how to make a 2 part waste mould of their portrait from algenate and plaster bandage.
Day three: Casting - Students will learn how to open their moulds and reassemble ready for casting. Students will then make a high quality cement casting of their portrait. Once the casting is completed and cured, students will then learn how to clean up any seam lines and repair any surface blemishes.
